Beyond my legal knowledge – which I keep up to date through continuing professional development, conferences and by studying legal theory and case law – I aim above all to be compassionate and attentive to my clients’ needs.
In family law matters, there are no winners or losers; there is simply the realisation of a failure which, if properly analysed, will enable personal recovery and prevent the repetition of past mistakes.
Because family matters cannot be resolved solely through legal means, whilst upholding the principles of confidentiality and professional secrecy, I have, over time, surrounded myself with competent and positive individuals with whom I form a dynamic team working together for the client’s well-being: colleagues, psychotherapists for adults and children, solicitors, mediators, bailiffs…
The training I have undertaken in mediation, arbitration and collaborative law forms part of this approach.
I am a firm believer in alternative dispute resolution methods.
As I am deeply concerned about the issue of domestic violence, I work regularly with the CVFE in Liège.

Although the divorce process has become considerably less burdensome in recent years, getting a divorce remains an emotionally trying experience.
Maître Wilmotte is committed to listening attentively and positively, which enables her to steer the case in the direction desired by the client, drawing on her experience as a specialist.
She has built up a network of specialist ‘partners’ to offer her clients the most comprehensive service possible.
She therefore works in close collaboration with a psychologist (Virginie MAHAUX), a couples’ therapist (Pascale CONSTANT) and organisations working to combat domestic violence (CFVE in Liège and ALTERNATIVES at the André RENARD Clinic in Herstal), as well as with several child psychologists (the choice of whom depends on the child’s age and how they are feeling).
The focus is on the individual and on safeguarding the best interests of both the client and the child.
Divorce by mutual consent and mediation will always be prioritised over any other form of divorce, wherever possible.
The same applies to the other areas of law in which Maître Wilmotte practises.
Thus, an amicable site visit or a meeting will often enable a quick, effective and cost-effective solution to be found for complex disputes, such as those relating to neighbourhood disturbances, co-ownership, tenancy agreements or contracts.
The mediator’s approach is entirely different from that of a solicitor.
He assists the parties in finding a solution themselves, whilst being bound by professional secrecy, requiring the parties to maintain confidentiality, and remaining impartial.
In this context, Maître Wilmotte has obtained his accreditation, which enables him to draw up a memorandum of understanding and have it ratified by a court to make it legally binding.
