In the presence of Mr Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice, Ms Françoise WILMOTTE and Mr Jean-Pierre JACQUES attended the concert given by the up-and-coming pianist Sofiane Pamart at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels on 29 April 2022. The proceeds from this concert went towards funding the Samilia Foundation’s projects on the ground along the Ukrainian border.
The war in Ukraine has caused the exodus of thousands of traumatised women and children who are vulnerable to human trafficking. There is therefore an urgent need to implement various awareness-raising and prevention initiatives to combat human trafficking at the borders and along the migration routes of these women and children in Moldova, Poland and Romania.
For over 20 years, Mr JACQUES has been representing victims of human trafficking and smuggling in criminal courts across Belgium. Supporting the foundation is therefore a natural extension of his commitment to victims as a lawyer in criminal court proceedings.
