Adoption leave: watch out for the calendar trap!

Are you adopting? Please note that you do not have to wait for the court’s final decision to apply for adoption leave. The aim is simply to give you time with your child as soon as they arrive.

The golden rule: the leave must begin no later than two months after the child has been registered at your address.

A stepfather had his request for leave refused by his employer just when he needed it most – to look after his child before he started nursery. Our team sent a robust legal letter to the employer to prove his entitlement. The result? Leave granted and no legal proceedings whatsoever!
